Reed Neighbors officially launched in March 2025, but our journey to build community started more than 20 years ago.
Long before social media, we created a Yahoo Group called Our 10 Blocks. We printed flyers, walked door to door and hoped a few neighbors would sign up. They did. Over the next decade, the group grew to more than 200 members before eventually being replaced by Nextdoor.
Years later, we decided to try again, this time with a broader vision. With encouragement from Vice Mayor Pam Foley and her District 9 team, we gathered a small group of volunteers and launched Reed Neighbors with a simple mission: Building community. Sharing information.
Together, our volunteers delivered flyers to all 974 homes in the neighborhood, and neighbors responded. Today, Reed Neighbors includes a community website, a growing email list, a Facebook Give & Receive group and an active Instagram account.
We're still learning and experimenting. Some ideas flourish, others evolve into something even better and some quietly fade away. That's all part of building community. From Front Lawn Fridays and National Night Out to neighborhood sign painting and our community poppy mural, every event is another opportunity to connect.
Whether you sign up for our emails, explore the website or follow us on social media, we hope you'll join us. But most of all, we hope to meet you out in our beautiful neighborhood.
